Reflective Blog Post
When going into this project I only ever worked with people from my own course. I wanted to keep open minded and be open to criticism. There were both strengths and weaknesses with working with new people from a different course. The first big challenge was the content itself. Leoni and I are not football fans and have no knowledge about the game or players so throughout this project we have had to learn a lot.
The biggest thing I learnt from this project is how to communicate with other people. This skill was essential throughout all the projects. A big advantage of working together with a team is shared work. This I great because work is split more easily and leaves more time to make more outcomes. Another positive is the marketing team did a lot of the research, so we already had ideas and statistics to work from. This helped us know which players and teams’ market best. Once we had the graphics ready, we met up and got their feedback and make suggestions based on what they think would work best. We decided on our outcome based on important research the marketing team had provided us. Then we took our final designs to our last meeting to get the marketing teams final approval on.
There were a couple challenges that Leoni and I faced with the marketing team. One was meeting up. Unfortunately, due to peoples’ different schedules it was hard to find a day to meet up so most of our information and feedback was given over messages. Another big challenge was the marketing teams constant use of ai. A lot of the inspirations and information was made with the assistance of ai. This was a challenge because the marketing team didn’t want to stop their use of ai and hear our concerns. Leoni and I did our best to comminate on why this is unnecessary and how we can do it better and later came to an understanding on how we can overcome this by ditching a lot of the ai images and using our work.
Another big difference with this project is having a live client brief. For my other projects which I was given a task, I could make my own decisions on the subject and theme of the project. However, that’s different with a client as they get to decide on themes and final outcomes. The feedback from these sessions heavily influenced my work and what the final outcomes looked like. As a result of this, I made more designs with slight differences to get a clear picture of what the client wants and what they would improve. The live client brief has taught me a lot about professional communication especially breaking down the reasons behind my design choices and why I think it would work best for this project. The client briefing was also helpful to get tips on what to do next and what would market best for this project. This relates to industry practice because in a studio with a real client communication is important to have so that the outcome is exactly what the client wants.
