First Portrait

My first portrait, I wanted to experiment with colour and shape
This is my first portrait. I started with a colour selfie and I changed the photo to black and white. I cut out star shaped parts of this photo and changed the colours to shades of blue, pink, green and yellow in the stars so they would stand out more and give more of an impact to the overall finished portrait. I used stars for this because they are my favourite shape and I am always wearing at least one thing with a star on it, therefor representing my personality more. The gran effect I have on my portrait reminded me of old posters in magazines in the 1950s and the background of this portrait also reminds me of a circus poster. I like this effect as it gives an added dimension. The reason this portrait represents me is because it shows how I may look boring and grey on the outside but I actually have a colourful personality.
Second Portrait

My second portrait, I wanted to show more of my artistic abilities
For this second poster I wanted to take a different approach with a bit more colour. I decided to use the brush tool on photoshop and draw part of my face so I could add more colour to it. However, I wanted to keep the portrait to one colour palate so I used blues, purples and pinks because they work well together as they are complementary colours. Drawing this took me a while especially the nose because it was hard to get the shading right and draw in my piercings. I created the jagged shape and placed it to the side of my face because I wanted it to look like it the colour exploded out my head and is breaking through the dull background. It represents how ideas and inspiration sometimes come out of nowhere. I prefer how this portrait represents me because it shows my love for art and creating things.
